12/4: Birds

Two new sets of pins are to be launched next week. The common theme is 'Birds'. There are 8 pins in each set depicting Garden Birds and Water Birds.

Each pin is limited to 5,000 pieces and the RRP is £6.50 per pin.

Initially the pins will be available individually on card. At a future date, two framed sets of these pins will be available, each containing 8 pins. There is no date or price available for these set.

Update 13/4: These sets are available to pre-order now from Glamorous Living.

Beautiful! I don't know how the Egyptian Goose got into the set though......

Maybe it flew in :-P
Nice looking pins, any news on who is stocking them yet?

No news on retailers yet, but I would imagine that each set of 8 would be available from Glamorous Living pretty soon. That's my opinion, not based on fact this time.

Wikipedia lists 592 British birds, so expect more of these pins in the months to come. Next time, though, it would be good to see a few extra blue logos!

IMHO, the Wood Pigeon is not really a garden bird so its inclusion is puzzling particularly as the House Sparrow, Wren and Song Thrush are missing, to name just three.

Hmm … I’m not so sure about the orange-throated Robin! What’s wrong with red? At least it wasn’t pink!

I wonder if the British Ornithologists' Union was consulted on the names, since there are a couple of oddities. Seagull (although properly Gull) and Swan are collective terms for bird species. There is room on a pin to write Greater Crested Grebe, so why not Herring Gull and Mute Swan?

What, no chickens?

Seriously, though, these are really nice pins, and the two sets will be much in demand (but please, not at £150 each, though).

I see glamorousliving.co.uk have them on sale now, so you were right Paul, as usual!
Well done on all the hard work.

I know that these are just images, but I wonder if they will give the robin feet when they make the pins?

Pip, we get plenty of wood pigeons in our garden (and on the allotments eating my crops!). Can't say I've seen a legless robin though, wonder what it has been drinking....

..and the news from this mornings post Pippin is that the Robin........has no feet!
