26/10: New Pride the Lion Team GB Pin Announced

The next in the series of official Team GB pins leading up to Rio 216 has been announced.

This time, Pride the Lion is driving a Christmas sleigh being pulled by Rudolph.

A picture of the artwork is available and the pin will be approximately 48mm x 40mm, so a fairly large pin this time.

Circulation is limited to 500 like the first pin and no word on pricing at the moment.

I imagine that this pin will be available from the same retailers as the first pin. More details as soon as I have them.

5/6: New Sponsor and Media Pins

Some readers may have noticed a few pins appearing on eBay recently. The following 4 pins have all been sent to me by readers and have been added to the catalogue.

Pin BBC0001 (TBC)
The first pin is a media pin from the BBC. It is unmarked on the reverse and with nothing to identify the manufacturer or issue size. These pins are not for the public and will not be distributed outside of the BBC.

Pin TBC
The next is an Olympic Torch Relay pin from Lloyds TSB. The reference of this pin is yet to be confirmed. Again, this pin is for internal distribution only and will not be issued to the public.

Pin EDF0018
This pin is another in the great countdown range from EDF. Following the theme of their previous Paralympic countdown pins, this 100 days to go pin has an image of the Basketball Arena along with composite logos. This pin is limited to 1,000 pieces and only for internal distribution.

Pin WWL-SAM0010 (TBC)
The final new pin that has been spotted is from Samsung. This one was seen at one of the Olympic Torch Relay parties. My understanding is that it is not a Honav pin and again is for Samsung staff only.

24/5: Gold Guards and Downing Street

This weeks new retail releases have a distinctly London feel with the mascots in their guards uniforms in gold and the front door of the Prime Minister's residence - 10 Downing Street.

Pin 0648

The guards are from an issue size of 10,000, but for some reason only 50 of each are being released initially. I'm not sure if the rest will be released individually, as sets or if they have all been snapped up. All I know for certain is that only 50 are available at the moment.

The 10 Downing Street pin is from an issue size of 10,000.

These will be at you favourite retailers this week.

Also available this week are two more Team GB/Paralympics GB pins to join the one that was issued last week, again from an issue size of 10,000.

15/5: 'Blinged' Mascots

Never mind what Jessie J may say, today its all about the bling for Wenlock and Mandeville.

Pin 1070

Pin 1071

Both mascots appear with a sparkly finish in their core poses in both their regular colours and Union flag livery too. The Union Flag versions are from an issue size of 30,000.
The regular colour versions are pins 1068 and 1069.

As well as glittery mascots, the Union Flag version of the logo gets a bluing version today too - pin 0655.

All these pins should be available this week.

Following on from Mandeville printed sports last week, this time it's Wenlock's turn. There are a full set of sports pins being issued as well as the Wenlock Olympic Torch pin seen at the meet in January. The torch pin is available in both enamel and print versions.

Hearts

Paralympics GB issue two team pins for retail this week, one in the shape of a heart and the other as a star.

Pin 0657

These pins appear to have a pitted/shiny appearance and seem to come in gold and bronze colours.

All of these pins should appear by the end of the week from your favourite retailers I presume.

23/4: Mascot Sport Pins (Version 2)

Just when you thought you'd seen all the mascot sports pins, they make another appearance. This time in printed versions rather than enamel as before.

The Paralympic sports are first and feature Mandeville in 21 disciplines.

Pin 0411

The pins are numbered 409-414 and 859-873. They are available immediately so contact your favourite retailer if you are looking got add these to the collection.

Wenlock is not far behind and those pins should be released shortly.

22/4: More Panasonic Mascot Sports Pins

Towards the end of 2011 a pin showing Wenlock playing basketball was released by Panasonic. It doesn't appear to be widely available, but now it is joined by two more mascot sports pins.

These pins show Wenlock playing football and sailing. They use the standard mascot sports pose, but introduce a coloured background and, of course, the sponsor name.

16/4: New London 2012 Retail Pins in US

The US licensee for London 2012 pins, Aminco, have announced more pins that will be released in May. The majority of these spins continue the mascot sports series, but there are a couple of pins showing ceremonial carriages too.

As with the previous pins in this range, the mascot poses are identical to the mascot sports pins available in the UK, it's just that these have a shard background and a logo too.

As usual, these pins are made for the US market only and are not available for sale in this country.

5/4: Mascot Article on Around the Rings

For those of you reading my articles on Around the Rings, the latest one has just been published. This time it's an overview of the mascot pins that have been issued so far.

26/3: 100 Day to Go Pins

With the 100 days to go milestone fast approaching, here are the pins that will be available to mark both the Olympic (18th April) and Paralympic (21st May) dates.

As for previous releases, there will be a 'shard' version as well as one for each mascot. These pins show each mascot in their 'Breaking the Tape' pose.

Pin 0929
Pin 0930
Pin 0948

This time, I'm told the pins will not be available to buy until the day. Each pin is limited to 2,012 pieces but a large number of each have already been snapped up by London 2012 stakeholders (not my word!) meaning that there will be limited numbers available for retail sale. I don't have a clear definition of how small those numbers will be, but if you collect countdown pins, I wouldn't hang around on the day.

I'm not sure if your favourite sellers will have stock in advance of April 18th. Each pin is priced at £7.

4/3: New Countdown and Olympic pins in the US

It looks like Aminco are gearing up as we approach the Games. A new range of pins has been announced that should be available through April.

The first pins that we should see are countdown and show Wenlock at 6 months and possibly 100 days (still waiting for more information).

The remaining pins are more British Life and more traditional Olympic handover pins.

The British Life pins show a policeman's helmet, Wenlock and a post box, a bowler hat, a taxi and a cake stand.

The handover pins show Beijing/London and Vancouver/London handovers. The national flags pin which looked like it was being issued a while ago also looks like it's now being released.

As with all other Aminco pins issued under the USOC licence, these are made for sale to the US market only.

2/3: Gold and Silver Mascots

Hot on the heels of gold and silver logos, come gold and silver mascots. These new pins show Wenlock and Mandeville in their 'core' pose but now completely in silver and gold.

Pin 1051

Pin 1052

Pin 1055

These pins are limited to 10,000 pieces each and are priced at £6. I understand these will be released shortly possible next week or the week after.

Update: These should be available around 9th March from your preferred retailer.

3/2: Mother's Day Pin and More...

New issues spotted on Glamorous Living's site tonight in addition to the pubs and bars set mentioned earlier.

To complement the Father's Day pin issued last year, London 2012 have issued a Mother's Day pin in advance of March 18th, the day on which it falls this year (incidentally my Mum's birthday!).

Pin 0577

The pin shows a bunch or pink roses and a pink London 2012 logo. The Father's Day pin was limited to 2,012 pieces and I would assume the same for this pin too.

The next pin is Mandeville playing 7-a-side football. This is the second pin of Mandeville playing football as the previous one (0495) was 5-a-side football,

The final pins are large, medium and small versions of a printed Union Flag logo.

Pin 0702

Pin 0703

Pin 0704
No issue sizes on these 3 pins, but expect them to be large.
