It's been a while, but the London at Night set is back. The Museum of London will be selling it from 15th September with pre-orders now available.
It's a little difficult to tell from the picture what the frame and backing are made from, so we'll have to wait and see.

Why was the original set withdrawn and is this set any different from the original set?
We don't know why it was withdrawn although I've heard rumours that LOCOG were unhappy with the poor packaging. The boxes will be much better. But I'm annoyed I'm stuck with a £100 pin set and am now tempted to shell out for the £130 set just for the packaging. I shall have to resist!
I'm with Tom. There are too many pins on their way to worry too much about these. Perhaps if the pace of releases eases up, I might reconsider.
I too agree I have the original set. the pins are great , but the box & STAND are poor. But the question is ... is the re boxed set worth the extra money ? I think not. The box of first set may not be as good, BUT it was the first, so that makes it better.
Also if this is a limited editon, does this number inclued the number of old style sets out there already... if so that would make ist issue sets rarer and more collectable
I will try to resist buying a 2nd updated set.
Could anyone confirm what Noel9 said? - "Also if this is a limited editon, does this number inclued the number of old style sets out there already..."
I would imagine that there will be a few less than 5,000 of the new sets. There should be 5,000 of each pin. Some of those will be in boxed sets sold originally (I'd guess around 10), so that means the number of new boxed sets should be a few less than 5,000. I'm trying to get a definitive number from Honav, so watch this space.

Spoke to Honav today who confirmed there will be 5,000 in total of the original and re-issued sets. They say that less than 20 of the original sets were sold, so that makes around 4,980 of the re-issued sets.
Only time will tell if the original sets become more sought after than the re-issued.
Says here there are 10,000!
