30/6: Coca-Cola Pins Announced

As we move into the last month of the countdown to the Olympic Games, Coca-Cola have launched their pin programme and their online shop. As pin collectors know, Coca-Cola produce a range of themed pins for the Games, and London 2012 is no exception.

Their pins will be issued from now right up until the end of the Paralympic Games and their range of designs means that there should be a pin for everyone.

The pins will be available in the pin trading centres in Hyde Park and the Olympic Park as well as in their online store - www.cokestore2012.co.uk

In the store they have a range of Coke branded merchandise as well as the pins. All profits from the sales of Coca-Cola products on the site goes to the StreetGames charity which aims to bring sport to young people in disadvantaged communities across the UK.

I understand that there will be some pins exclusive to the individual pin trading centres that will not appear online, but more news of those when they are released.

The pins available at the launch of the online store are divided into categories...

  • Olympic Torch Relay - the pins we have seen already, but now your chance to buy individual pins online
  • Welcome to the Games - 12 opening telephone boxes representing 12 of the visiting nations
  • Country Flags - 10 countries are represented with their flags connected to a Coke bottle and the London 2012 logo
  • London Landmarks - 8 pins showing ironing London buildings or scenes but with a Coke twist
  • Typically British - 9 pins which take a tongue-in-cheek view of how we Brits see ourselves and how we may be seen by others
  • There are 3 other pins which use iconic Coca-Cola imagery
The online range will continue to grow as we approach the Games and we will be able to see the pins 'in the flesh' for the first time when the Hyde Park venue opens soon.

Future pins will highlight the 'Move to the Beat' campaign and a fantastic musical jigsaw set which draws on British musical heritage from the 60s and 70s.

As well as the merchandise, the Coke Store site also has some background on pin trading, the pin designers, the StreetGames charity and a teasing outline of the pin-of-the-day set!

It is all working now and you can place orders. I'm proud to say that I managed to crash their authorisation system twice this morning before it settled down and accepted my order. A badge of honour that I shall wear proudly!

Hope y'all enjoy them and have as much fun with them as me, Julia and the team did creating them! :)

As someone that was at Coke HQ yesterday, I can confirm that no info is yet available for the pin of the day, except yes there will be one or is that ones, and it will make at big bottle of coke when combined ( Not a suprise ) I think it is a case of watch this space... or wait until the Hyde Park store opens later this month.

Well point taken Wookie old chap. Nice to see you yesterday..... I wonder if we can get Coke to produce a One Planet Roll Playing Pin just for us !!!! Or maybe a " I've seen the Wookie at the Ecco Hut ! " pin : )

So ..... .are you saying we will have to visit a Coca Cola stall every day to get the Pin of the Day ..... will they be limited and therefore a scramble to get I wonder???

They stated clearly yesterday that each pin will only be sold on the correct day, and yes of course they will be limited. Limited to how many is a different matter, but I'm guessing it won't be huge. These pins sell out quickly at every games.
"I've seen the Wookie"....now that would give the games a whole new dimension wouldn't it? The athletes will be begging to have their photos taken with me, LOCOG will be going crazy....oh come on Mike, wake up :)

But the Coke website says that both the Olympic and Paralympic sets will both be available to pre-order as a framed set, including the completer pins. I'm unsure if the completer pins will be available to purchase separately.

Ok, there will be a pin of the day set for the Olympics and one for the Paralympics. A pin will be issued on that day and therefore you need to visit a retail outlet that sells them on the day. The Coke centres will have them. They will be limited and we are waiting to hear what the issue size will be. You will be able to get them all in a framed set which, as Mikeyboy says, looks like it will be able to be per-ordered. The completed pin will only be available in the sets. the framed sets will not be issued until after the Games so as not to show future days.

A Wookie featured on a Coke Pin.... ? well that may not be as crazy as it sounds. No spoilers please ! I better get another stripey shirt ready for MY close up too. That will be a very limited edition pin and so non-collectable

During the Games we can all play "SPOT THE WOOKIE" and "Where is the Wally in the Stripy Shirt !" Here is a clue.... You will find both in London sniffing out pins !

i'd be surprised if the set isnt available from day one, it normally is.

yes it ruins the surprise of each days pin being released but the reality is it then gives them 17 days to sell it rather than just one

I was going to order a torch relay pin on there but then i noticed they only take Visa cards, damn. :(

Most debit cards are Delta Visa..... that should be ok

Has anyone else had PROBLEMS with the site crashing ? It is awlful (that is the under 18's term... for any kiddies tuning in !)

I made a transaction and despite using Sage Pay to pay did not get a reciept or confirmation of the order.

I emailed the email address for customer services (cut and pasted from the site) and two emails have been bounced back by webmaster!

Part of me began to wonder if this is a legitimate site or a fraud.

I would expect better from Coca Cola!

My emails came back also when I enquired about the faulty site. The Coke site is ok...or as they say THE REAL THING .. the system is the thing that appears to be the problem

Thanks Noel,

Did you get confimation emails?

Has anyone received their pins yet? I ordered on the 28th and nothing arrived yet.

I contacted Coke today and found out that they are now resolving the issues of lack of emails and order confirmations.

They are trying to resolve the email bounce backs with the IT dept.

With regards to my order, I was advised on the phone that not all of the pins are in stock, I was told to expect despatch mid next week.

Coke appears not to be running the online shop direct and a third party is involved.

I contacted coke on their customer service number posted on the uk coke website.

I've been getting nothing but e-mail bounce-backs. No confirmation e-mail and no pins from my last order makes me loathe to place another order for the new designs. I too tried telephoning, only to go to an already-full voicemail system. Great. They're not slow at taking the money though! The site's been live for a fortnight.
