17/7: Pin Trading Centre - Day 1

Don't worry, there won't be a report on each day's activity! As it was the first official day of trading at the Hyde Park Centre, just a short summary for those that were not able to make it.

A successful day of trading took place from around 11am this morning until after 3pm. There were lots of Coke staff around to find out more about pin collecting and trading. They were a very friendly bunch and were putting themselves through their paces. These are the teams that will be managing the people through the centres and they were keen to get trading with us.

There were around 9 tables set up for traders and a steady flow of collectors - experienced and new. It was an excellent taste of things to come.

As the day warmed up and the sun came out, the room got a little hot, so make sure you have fluids with you if you are set for a sessions trading.

The designers of the Coke pins came to see the centre and the collections and it was very nice to meet them both.

There were a number of new Coca-Cola retail pins on sale today as well as the newly released 10 day to go pin (issue size 5,000).

Meanwhile in the London 2012 shop next door, there were a range of new pins on sale - 26 boxed sets of 2 venue pins. Each box contains a printed sports mascot pin (subtly different to the existing sports mascot pins) and an enamel 'venue' pin which may be an image of the venue or a 'sign' with the name of the venue and the dates of competition. More on these win another post, but there were 26 sets each at £15!

Top tip

If anyone is working at the Hyde Park Trading Centre they must bring their own drinks and food as there appears to be nothing to eat or drink on site.

More Pins came out after some of the guys left, both at Coke Trading Centre and at the BIG 2012 shop next door.

More boxed sporting pins on offer. Priced from £35 to £70 along with a BIG Boxed set of all sports (40 Pins ?) for a the Grand sum of £380.00 I bought two sets (In my dreams I did.) Who said you can collect on a budget !!!

They have a good amount (the best so far) of all 2012 and team GB Stuff on sale. But the Guys say this will be nothing to compare to the MEGA STORE in the Olympic Park. The only down side to buying from both the Coke trading site and 2012 store is its either VISA or Cash. So if you have no Visa credit or debit card it will be Cash Only. The nearest Bank I think is near Harvey Nicholls... so be prepared to get your wonga before going to the Park to Shop.

ps..... Traders remember to bring some Food and Drink along ....or you will be fighting the ducks for their bread on the boating lake.

Especially the water - humidity in there is very high and you dehydrate quickly

Hahaha!! Amazing, thanks Noel!

It was a pleasure to chat and trade on Tuesday,
the Stuttgart Candidate pin is getting a right good showing off on my rucksack which rarely leaves my back!

Thanks so much for your kind and hilarious song, it's been a massive joint effort for the past like forever designing the pins so it makes it all worthwhile when people like you appreciate it.

Hope to see you and the gang again on Saturday,

Stu

Stuart just forwarded me the link to this, it made my day!!

All the hard work that went into the pins was to make a collection that you guys would like so I'm really happy that you are pleased with them!

Great to meet you yesterday, hope to see you again soon!

Julia

Now if we can just get the Coke Singers to do a chorus or two of this one on Saturday... the Pins will fly off the shelves.

Noel,

In your message to Stuart, how does the word between "sanshō..." and "...kudasai" translate into English?

noel 9 said...

Philip it is not as rude as it looks, I am no expert but is means "to do" or does or I will in this message. It is used in conjuction with other words.
Japanese translation is more about meaning and context of the words and the type of word.

Stu's message to me I think says He thinks my Japanese is clever and it made him laugh ! Well I think that what it said.

As my sister in law says, Western men should never learn Japanese from their Wives or girl friends. As they end up talking like little girls, and using female speach. This is why my Brother does not speak Japanese to his wife.

Best Wishes ノエル (Noel)
